Dr. Mezitis received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Heidelberg University in Germany. He trained at the medical centers of George Washington University, Thomas Jefferson University, Harvard University and Columbia University.
He is a consultant in diabetes mellitus, endocrinology and nutrition and maintains a private medical practice in Manhattan. He is a founding member of the Metropolitan Diabetes Society in New York and President of the Hellenic Medical Society of New York, among other memberships in professional organizations.
Dr. Mezitis maintains an active international teaching schedule lecturing to health care professionals and the public on topics in metabolism and nutrition. He has contributed original articles, reviews and book chapters to the literature in his areas of specialty.

The Mezitis Education and Research Institute was founded by Dr. Nicholas H.E. Mezitis to pursue clinical research in treatments for diabetes mellitus and other metabolic illness and to educate health care professionals and the community in disease management and prevention.
